The council is converting 40% of its Civic Centre offices into affordable housing. While providing affordable housing was not required with this type of development, the council, knowing the importance of providing homes for our residents, opted to convert properties to house those most in need.

Development of 25 units of affordable rent housing in former Council offices to be occupied by April 2020. This will be transferred out of the municipal portfolio to the residential portfolio. KGE will rent and manage the flats.

Although this could, technically, have been done under the prior approval scheme, the Council submitted their plans to Committee in order for them to be scrutinised in full.
